A Guide to Ellie Saab

Ellie Saab is fast becoming a global brand, well known to everyone. Nearly everyone has seen the beautiful dresses on the catwalk, compared to nature's prettiest pictures floating round twitter and browsed endlessly the catwalk looks that Ellie Saab pulls off every time perfectly. So I decided to write a post looking into the Lebanese born brand; Ellie Saab.

Ellie Saab was born in 1964, and is a Lebanese fashion designer, his workshops located in Lebanon, Paris and Milan. He is self trained, and by the age of 8 his eyes were on the fashion world. He used to drape fabrics onto his sister as a model and his family were all pleasantly surprised for his first childhood piece; a blue and white gown. He loved womens clothing and the elagance of it all.
At the age of 18, Ellie Saab launched his fashion label with 15 employees, at first he specialized in bridal wear using embrodiery, pearls and lace he quickly became supported locally. In 1981 he moved to Paris to study fashion however moved back to work in his workshop a year later. 16 years later he was the first non-italian to become a member of the Camera Nazionale Della Moda, later that year he showed his first collection in Rome.

Queen Rania of Jordan wore one of his dresses for her enthronement in 1999 which cost $2.4 million.

He became an overnight success when he dressed Halle Berry for the 2002 Oscars (pictured above) where she won best actress.

In the May of 2003 Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture invited him to become a member and he showed his first haute couture collection in Paris, July, 2003. Models such as Noami Campell (above) walked for the first Haute Couture show.

Celebrities Ellie Saab has dressed include Katy Perry, Emma Watson, Angelina Jolie and Beyonce. Also for all Gossip Girl fans; Blair Waldof wore a Ellie Saab dress for her wedding. (above)
