Louis Vuitton's Cruise Collection

Louis Vuitton Resort 2016

On Wednesday, Louis Vuitton and Nicolas Ghesquiere unveiled their 2016 collection in Palm Springs, California. The world class designer hosted his collection at a midcentury masterpiece - the John Lautner designed house atop a vista looking out across the desert. It seems to be coming increasingly common to invite guests to a unique location to show case collections, and why not, designers so far all have good venue tastes, Guests included Michelle Williams with Adele Exarchopoulos, Selena Gomez, Kanye West and Miranda Kerr.

I loved the collection mostly because it was all wearable- like a ready to wear collection should be. Shoes were flat, garments were light and had an effortless feel to them. The collection had a chill bohemian streak to it while still being smart and glamorous. Burke describes these vibes better than me: 'The women were romantic but in combat mode' . The collection was almost split in half: some of the patterns and prints were in muted colours making them more relaxed than previous shows, even the red leather had a tranquil feel to it, where as sequined tops and red hotpants jumped out at you with clashing patterns complimenting each other perfectly. The show overall was beautiful and the clothes that strutted the runway were all equally gripping and well put together.
The catwalk ended with an after party with a Mexican buffet, bumper cars, DJ's and a dance floor and a LV carnival which took over Parker Palm Springs- what I wouldn't do to have been there.
